Way, Van Veen Lead Team through 2023 iGPFun Season 1

The first iGPFun season of 2023 has come to a close, and it was an exciting season for all the teams and drivers. The online open-wheel racing league entered its 20th anniversary year in 2023, and we had had four full-time drivers under the Modern Racing Prints GP banner who put up a good fight throughout the season. Let's take a look at how the teams performed and their highlights of the season.

The first driver pairing of Canadians Evan Way and Ben Goyette finished 7th in the team championship, with Evan finishing 11th and Ben finishing 17th in the overall driver standings. Evan was one of the most consistent drivers of the team, spending most of the season at the pointy end of the field. He had two remarkable performances at Circuit of the Americas and in the season finale at Watkins Glen, finishing 5th in both races, scoring the best race results of the season for the MRP garage. Ben, on the other hand, steadily worked his way through the field, constantly scoring +20 race day performances.

The second driver pairing of Dutchman Richard van Veen and American Matt Breuer finished close behind in 8th in the team competition, just 70 points back. Richard had a career-best performance this season, finishing 10th in the overall championship and winning the 2500 Classification Title, a separately scored competition among drivers with an iRacing below 2500. Matt, on the other hand, faced some issues throughout the season, getting caught up in accidents in the opening rounds of the season. Despite his struggles, he fought hard and managed to score points in a few races, finishing 36th overall with a season-best 25th place finish in the finale.

Modern Racing Prints GP's plans for 2023 Season 2

For the upcoming 2023 Season 2, Evan Way and Richard van Veen will pair as teammates to try for a top 5 team finish. Evan's consistency and Richard's remarkable performance this season make them a strong pair to watch out for. Additionally, Austin Knight, a longtime league commentator who previously raced touring cars in the Ricmotech World Challenge for Modern Racing Prints GP, is expected to make his iGPFun debut as a driver in a new part-time entry for the team. Fans of the league are excited to see Austin's skills on display in the upcoming season. Ben, meanwhile, is expected to make a few appearances in a limited schedule for the team while he focuses on his outdoor mountain bike racing as we head into spring.

Overall, it was a great second season for Modern Racing Prints GP, with some impressive performances from all their drivers. We are eagerly waiting for the 2023 Season 2 to see how the team will perform with their new driver lineup.
